China Glaze - Ghouls' Night Out (2015 Halloween collection) quick review and swatches

Hi guys,

even though it is only August most of the nail polish collections for fall are already out. This year I was lucky enough and could put my hands on the China Glaze new Halloween collection early. I get my polishes from 8ty8beauty's web site and you can check out this collection under this link http://8ty8beauty.com/nail_polishes/cg-i.htm

In this collection you get 6 nail polishes - 3 cremes and 3 glitter mix polishes. I was pleasantly surprised with the application and quality of the formula; including the glitters. The cremes are between 1 to 3 coaters and the glitter polishes behave nicely as well. You might have to swirl your brush in the bottle before application but nothing major because you do get a good amount of various glitter pieces on the brush.

Lady and the Vamp

I was so pleased when I applied this bright orange nail polish because it was completely opaque in one coat. This color reminds me of the orange pumpkin skin and I absolutely love how bright it is. It is as well appropriate for summer, though it is not being considered to be a neon nail polish, the brightness of this colors is without any doubt right there.

If you are debating which colors to get from this collection, Lady and the Vamp is absolutely a must have.

Ghostess With the Mostess

This is the first of the glitters in the collection applied over Lady and the Vamp. I applied 2 coats of this polish because I felt there was not enough glitter with my first application; mostly caused of me not knowing how these would apply. Also, excuse the quality of the glitter pictures, for some reason I could not get a sharp image that would really translate the beauty of these glitter polishes.

I love the mix of the colors in this glitter nail polish ranging from bar glitter, through small and larger circles and the fun hex purple glitter with stripes. This is 2 coats in the picture, with the second application I got enough of the larger glitters but if you swirl your brush in the bottle before applying it onto the nail, I think you can easily get away with only one coat. The transparent base polish is thick but still not too bad for moving the glitter around on your nail for better and even application.

The good news is that removing any of these glitter polishes is easy and had not problems with it all. All I needed was a larger cotton ball and regular nail polish remover.

Drink Up Witches

This is the second creme in this Halloween collection and let me tell you...I absolutely love this nail polish. This one needs 2 coats to achieve the full opaqueness but it is so worth it. You could probably get away with one coat if you are planning to place glitter polish over it but on its own it needs the second coat because it is a bit patchy and leaves bald spots on your nail. This is another bright bright nail polish that is almost neon but not quite yet and you do not need white base underneath it as it builds up on its own. This is a bright lime green creme and it is definitely in your eyes color.

Drink Up Witches is my absolute fave from the entire collection...and I tell you a secret; I am wearing it right now...maybe this will be another nail polish that I would need a back up bottle of soon.

Cackle If You Want To

The second glitter in the Halloween collection is Cackle If You Want To. Another great glitter nail polish where you do not need to fish for the glitter too much. For the swatch I matched it with Drink Up Witches and in the picture you see 2 coats. I would say this glitter is a bit less dense than Ghostess With the Mostess and you probably have to swirl your brush in the bottle a little bit more, but you are still getting a decent amount of purples hex glitters with stripes and black circles in various sizes.

For me this was the least favorite glitter in the collection but I still think it is unique enough to get this as part of the entire collection.

Looking Bootiful

The last creme in the collection is Looking Bootiful. This nail polish needed 3 coats to completely cover up the nail lines and bald spots, but again, if you are planning to place glitter nail polish over it you can get away with 2 coats only. This is a deep purple plum polish, almost like blurple, and it looks almost like a gel polish on your nails. If you don't mind that the application requires 3 coats, then you should definitely include this one in your shopping cart as well.

For me this was not the most unique color in general but for some reason I really like the finish of this nail polish and if you are weighing if to get this color, I would still say yes.

Something's Brewing

And the last nail polish and the last glitter in the 2015 China Glaze Halloween collection is Something's Brewing. What I really like about this glitter polish was the fact it looked really good after the first layer and I did not have to do a second coat. This is probably the most densely packed polish with glitters; though the glitter color is not something I would personally gravitate towards. The hex glitters are 2 different sizes and then it is packed with black hex and circle glitters.

So I hope this quick review is helpful to you guys. In my opinion this is a great collection and is worth getting it. If you are not into glitter polishes, the cremes are absolutely a must have; especially Brewing Witches and Lady and the Vamp. My least favorite one is Cackle If You Want To but I think it is mostly because it took me a little while to figure out how to apply the glitter polishes; though I do think this took me the most time to really get the larger hexes out from the bottle.

Have a great day all and let me know which is your favorite and if you will be picking up any of these polishes. And I talk to you soon.
