First 2015 My week in nails

Hi guys

I hope  you are all doing great and that you had an easy start for 2015. I am enjoying the last day of my off and getting mentally ready to go back to work tomorrow. Do you guys feel the same way about the time passing by too fast when you have few days off? I wish I could stay home; especially with all this snow in the weather forecast for the upcoming week but I am still hoping it won't be too bad. I cannot wait for the winter to be over; I need sun and warm temperatures to survive.

So as you can tell this is my first 2015 edition of the "My week in nails" series. Half of my manicures were created in December and the other half in January so you will see a mix of festive nails and random manicures. Also, usually the last day or the first day of the following month I like to do a recap of my work, so in this article I will only show you six manicures instead of seven. Hope you like it and if you decide to recreate any of them, don't forget to use #nailsby_judinka123. Sunday - Bold Metallic (and reaching 1000 followers on Instagram; THANK YOU)

It just happened that I woke up reaching 1000 followers on Sunday morning; I was so happy to see the number turning to four digits!!!...when I started with posting my nail creations on Instagram 3 months ago I was hoping to maybe have 100 followers so 1000 felt almost unreal. As a big thank you I held a giveaway (posted earlier last week; winner was already chosen and she should be receiving her prize shortly - congrats).

And to celebrate this number I created this bold metallic mani using Maybelline's nail polish from the Metallic line. This is a stunning color opaque in 1 coat but because it looks quite streaky on one coat I decided to add another layer to get rid of the brush strokes. I absolutely loved the final look but felt I needed to do more than just a simple manicure.

Thus I added black sticker flowers from the brand Kiss. I really liked how the final mani turned out and it was so simple yet elegant. Also, applying this polish was easy and I had no difficulties. As with all the metallic finish polishes, you may have to do 2-3 layers only because of the visible brush strokes. However, this particular nail polish wasn't too bad.

Monday - Fun Hand Painted Mani

If you read my previous post, you might have already seen the below picture. I have a quick review on the Sally Hansen nail art pens I got in my stocking this year for Christmas. You can read more about my first thoughts using these pens in my article dedicated to them.

As a base for this mani I used a minty green nail polish from Julep. What you see in the picture is 2 coats. This is quite a unique mint colored polish in my collection. There is a nice shimmer running through the polish itself. I will see what colors and products Julep comes up with in January and if I like it I would get it this month and will write a short review. For those who never heard of Julep polishes, I will try to leave a link to their website; but will explain more in my article dedicated to this brand and their subscription service later.

For the manicure I used all three colors I have; black, pink and purple. First I framed my nails with the pink nail polish, then I added purple flower petals and finished the designed framing the petals with the black pen.

Tuesday - Green Mani with Gold Stamping

It is the last day before New Year's Eve; therefore I decided to go festive again. If you haven't read my last article with my weekly manicures, make sure you check it out because you can find more info on this gorgeous green nail polish from China Glaze. I just absolutely love this nail polish!

For my stamping I used Bold Gold from Maybelline (in my opinion one of the best gold polishes for stamping) and one of the MoYou London stamping plates. I already have a quick review on this brand and will post another one soon (got my new order few days ago). Right now they are offering free shipping worldwide until January 11, 2015. Make sure you do not miss out on this opportunity!!! I will be placing my next order on Friday...I am addicted to MoYou London stamping plates and since I got my first plates, I cannot stop.

This was such a fun and festive manicure! Now that December is over, I will miss all the festive nail polishes I tend to wear only during the Holidays season.

Wednesday - Happy New Year Mani

And the last day of the year has come!!! On one hand I am happy it is over, on the other hand it was a good year for me and I will miss it. That also means I will get a year older...and maybe wiser...lol

I do not tend to wear this nail polish any other day then right around New Year's. It reminds me of fireworks and the confetti flying around you at midnight. On top of the polish I did stamping with numbers for the upcoming year 2015. The polish has a white base and is packed with fun color glitter...that looks more like pieces of paper rather than glitter.

One warning though; getting this nail polish of your nails is an absolute nightmare and you would have to do the aluminum foil glitter removal method. The glitter is dense in the polish and getting it off is almost impossible. Also, I have this polish for about 2 years and the brush is puffed up from all the glitter in the bottle; yet it was still easy to work with it when applying on the nails. Nevertheless, I think this polish is unique and worth to have it in your collection. And again, as with so many of China Glaze's polishes, this chipped on me almost immediately.

Friday - Hand Painted Cheetah Print

I was deeply in love with this mani. I wore it on my nails when we went out with my husband for New Year's Eve and kept it on until Saturday when I saw the first chip on my nails. The base color from China Glaze is probably my absolute favorite of all times and unlike most of their polishes this one lasts 3-4 days before you see a smallest chip on your nails.

For the cheetah print I used the nail art pens from Sally Hansen. This was such a great gift from my husband! Already have few more new ideas for new manicures using them.

When it comes to buying China Glaze polishes I got them from www.8ty8beauty.com. They have prices you can hardly beat and their shipping is super fast as well.

Saturday - Simple Glitter Mani

Woo hoo...finally a different brand than China Glaze. For this mani I used 2 polishes from OPI's Nordic collection. As I might have mentioned in the past I am not too big on OPI polishes; mostly because of the cost and the colors they usually include in their collections.

However, when I saw the first adds for the Nordic collection and swatches on YouTube, I immediately knew I have to have it. I literally stalked Amazon and eBay hoping I can find the entire collection for a good deal. And few days after the collection launched, I finally found it. Oh, and I was not disappointing at all!!! Love every nail polish in this collection and the quality is amazing as well.

For my mani I used 2 coats of each polish and they are opaque and applied beautifully. For my accent finger nail I only used 2 layers of the glitter polish and it almost perfectly covered the entire nail. Then on each finger I applied the glitter on the tips of my nails bringing the entire look together. Such an easy yet beautiful manicure and the best thing is, anybody can do it!

So this was a quick summary of my manicures for the end of 2014, beginning of 2015. I do not have a New Year resolution for this year but I will try to focus more on my blog and Instagram, bringing you interesting articles and manicures. If you have any suggestions as to what you would like to see on my blog, let me know in the comment section below. Thank you for being here and I am looking forward to talk to you all soon.

Happy New Year 2015.
