Sally Hansen - nail art pens

Happy and Prosperous 2015 to you all! Hope you all spent the Holidays with your family and that you had a great celebration of the new year. I was able to spend New Year's Eve with my husband this year and we were both having a great time.

For my first article of 2015 I decided to talk about a Christmas present that in my opinion is so much fun. As a Christmas stuffing in my stocking I found these cool nail art pens from Sally Hansen. I saw these at my local drugstores before yet I never even thought about picking them up. My husband is a great supporter when it comes to my crazy nail polish and nail art obsession so he got 3 of these pens for me as a stocking stuffer.

He got me a pink, a purple and a black one. To activate the pen you need to push on the tip of it several times until you see the nail polish coming out from the plastic tip. Once you got it going, you gently push the tip on the nail and start drawing the wanted design. So far I tried two different manicures using all three colors. One was mimicking flower petals and the other one was a cheetah print.

They are easy to use but I have to say you will not be able to use these for fine details. There is little control you have about the thickness of the lines so I would recommend to use these only for lines, polka dots or abstract nail art. Also, the black pen tends to stain my cuticles so you need to be careful when you get too close to your skin area. Another interesting anomalie is the fact that the colors seem to rub or come off even if you apply a top coat. I have seen fading or complete disappearance of the colors on my tips and close to skin. Not sure if this is only me and the way I applied them on my nails or if this is something that other people experienced as well.

Sally Hansen has a great variety of colors in this nail art pen form. I would probably not recommend them to a nail art beginners but on the other hand it does not take too long finguring out the best way to use them. They are a nice gift for your nail art lover family members and friends and the truth is you can never have enough nail polish in your collection.

If you are curious about the longevity of these pens, I have to say I have no idea. I never tried them before; thus I do not know how much nai polish is in each pen or how quickly they would dry out. I store them upside down just to avoid any leaking and drying of the nail polish in the plastic tip. Also, I am unsure if each color might have a different life cycle or if they are all about the same.

Let me know if you ever tried any of these nail art pens from Sally Hansen and what is your experience with them. Do not forget to check out my Instagram account for more manicures and short reviews; nailsby_judinka123 http://instagram.com/nailsby_judinka123/.
