ShineSpark Polish - Inner Beauty Sailor Moon collection (review and swatches)

Hi guys,

how are you all doing? It's another warm but rainy day in PA and I have to say I do enjoy it. Better than shoveling snow three times a day.

So I have a real fun collection for you today. As mentioned in my previous post, I am reaching out to discover indie brand nail polishes; and to finally extent my nail polish collection to not only drugstore brands but to also show some love and support to people who have their products on different Etsy sites. The best place for me to search for indie makers is Instagram and that's how I came across ShineSpark Polish. At first I was only browsing her website and checking out her prices...and then it hit me!!! She had a collection dedicated to Sailor Moon...and I am a huge sucker for anything Sailor Moon (binge watching the show these days). So I immediately fell in love with the Inner Beauty Sailor Moon collection (http://www.shinesparkpolish.com/collections/clearance/products/inner-beauty-sailormoon-inspired-collection) and ordered it. If you are interested in putting your hands on the collection, I would say do it now because she is discontinuing this set and they are also on sale.
Inner Beauty Sailor Moon collection - 5 stunning nail polishes
You have 5 nail polishes in this collection, each dedicated to one of the Sailor Guardians and Sailor Moon herself. Before I get into the nail polishes I have to say a big thank you to Molly (who is the owner of the brand) for helping me locate my almost lost but definitely delayed package. She immediately went on a hunt to help me and showed concerns about the delay that occurred with the U.S. postal services. She was kind the entire time and replied to my e-mails within few minutes. This experience made me feel good and she showed she really cares. :)

Drive Me the Mercury

First polish in the Sailor Moon collection that I will be talking about is this stunning blue semmi-matte metallic Drive Me to the Mercury dedicated to Sailor Mercury, Amy. What you see in the picture below is only one coat; yes, you heard me right, one coat. It completely covered my nail line and though you can see some brush strokes, it did not bother me at all. I think if you apply another coat, the brush strokes will completely disappear.
1 coat of Drive Me the Mercury; with 2 coats you can probably completely get rid of the brush strokes

In this picture I do not have a top coat over it but if you prefer the shiny look, you can always add your favorite top coat. I ended up coating it with Out the Door top coat and the nail polish did not chip at all. I wore this color for 2 days. Also, removing it was very easy and the good news is, it did not stain my nails at all as most blue polishes tend to do on my nails.

Zig Zag Slash

This green beauty is dedicated to Sailor Jupiter, Mako. This was another one coater in the collection and it completely covered my nail line. Zig Zag Slash has a very similar formula as Drive Me the Mercury and it dries as semmi-matte. In the picture below I only did one coat because I planned to place The Last Change over it but even though it covers completely in one coat, I think I should have done two coats.
1 coat of Zig Zag Slash; sorry about visible bumps...that was my base coat
Please excuse the uneven and bumpy look of the swatch; I used Revlon base coat underneath it but it is getting old and I did not realize how bad it would look until I took a picture and was too lazy to re-do it. Plus, I was planning to top it with a glitter and top coat to cover up the imperfections.
Zig Zag Slash topped with the Last Change after 5 days of wearing; only minor tip wear
And as you can see above, after wearing this nail polish for five days, I only had a little bit of tip wear but no chipping or pealing and after removing the nail polish, it did not stain my nails at all. As an FYI, I got rid of that old base coat and currently I am only using my beloved China Glaze First and Last base and top coat in one (using it only as a base coat though).

Traditional the Grace

This peach nail polish is dedicated to Sailor Venus, Minako, who is also known as Sailor V in the Sailor Moon anime. Traditional the Grace was and is probably my least favorite color from the entire Inner Beauty collection but it is still a very pretty color. For some reason it felt very bland and I was not too impressed by the color itself on my nails. The formula on all of these polishes is great and this one is no exception.
Traditional the Grace - 2 coats no top coat
I applied two coats for my picture but when I looked very close, I still could see my nail line. This was such a minor flaw for me that I did not add an additional coat but if you are picky about seeing your nail line, yu would want to do three coats. I have to also mention that this color seemed to stain my nails a little bit. As I was removing it using nail polish remover, the original color turned almost into a greenish color leaving a light stain on the nails. If I would use this color again, I would double up on my base coat. This was the only nail polish in the line causing this potential staining.

Messenger of Flame

Messenger of Flame is for Sailor Mars, aka Rei.This definitely is my favorite one from the entire collection and loved this brick red nail polish so much. I applied two coats and after I looked closer I could see my nail line a tiny little bit but I was planning on adding The Last Change on all of my nails and therefore I left it with two coats for my picture.
2 coats of Messenger of Flame; my personal favorite and even prettier in real life
If you are debating on maybe only getting one of the nail polishes from the Sailor Moon collection, this one is a must have in my own humble opinion. I do not wear red nail polishes too often but I left this one on my nails for three days and also did some nail art over it.

The Last Change

And finally we have The Last Change that is representing Sailor Moon, aka Usagi, aka Princess Serenity. This is a glittery off white nail polish. The first coat is very thin and I was also able to use it as a topper on all of the other nail polishes from the collection. In this picture you see three coats. It was almost opaque in two coats but because the bottom layer was so sheer, I decided to go with three coats and omg, it turned out to be so beautiful!!!
3 coats of The Last Change
And to show you how gorgeous all of the nail polishes looked with The Last Change over them, I have as well taken pictures showing this to you. The original idea for this nail polish is though not to be a glitter topper but to be worn on its own. With some imagination; however, you can apply and mix them as you like.
The Last Change over all the nail polishes in the collection. This is not intended to be a topper but the first layer is very thin and makes all the colors pop.
My final thought is you absolutely need all of these nail polishes in your collection. According to Molly, the owner of ShineSpark Polish, she has only a few of them left in her stash and when they are gone, they are gone.

All in all, I am very happy with the brand, quality of nail polishes and customer services provided by the owner of the ShineSpark Polish. I was so pleased with them that I have already placed another order for her fall collection and at this time there was no delay at all and received my package within two days after she shipped them. Oh, and did I mention that I absolutely love the brush in her nail polishes? Not too thin nor thick and it is so easy to apply the nail polishes evenly on your nails. None of the polishes were either runny nor I had to dip the brush back in the bottle to get an even coverage.

Make sure to check out her Instagram account (https://instagram.com/shinesparkpolish/) and website (www.shinesparkpolish.com) as well.

Hope this was helpful to you guys and make sure to let me know if you are planning to get any nail polishes from ShineSpark Polish or if this collection maybe peaked your interest.
